Cases filed with the PUCO and OPSB are identified by a four element coding system.
The coding elements are the year in which the case was filed, the sequence in the filing, the industry code, and the purpose code.
The industry code indicates the utility involved in the case and the purpose code indicates the reason for which the case has been brought before the Commission.
For example, a water company applying for a certificate would be coded as follows:
95 - 000 - WW - ACE
YEAR - SEQUENCE - INDUSTRY - PURPOSE
